CUBE is now available in both VHS and DVD formats. Have you seen it? You should.I'd read several reviews of this movie before watching it, and did not find it to be as others described. Much more a psychological thriller than the gorefest one critic called it. (Compared to a Verhoeven film, it was positively tame.)
Great character study with an entertaining premise and fine, balanced acting. Some nice plot twists and turns. Well worth watching. Unless you're claustrophobic of course.
Excellent visual effects as well.

Some folks found themselves together in a cube.
Where looking over your shoulder was a very good idea.
And looking up didn't hurt either.
Being in a cube made some of these people nervous.
And proved true the adage "Familiarity breeds contempt."
Carelessness in the cube carried a high cost.
Yet the cube did provide its own fascination.
Its residents grew dependent upon each other.
The established pecking order had Quentin as leader;
Kazan, an idiot savant, at the bottom;
and the dour Worth somewhere in between.
Yet they all pulled together as one if need arose.
Encouraging reassurance was often required.
Until it became ominously inappropriate.
The strongest of the group was becoming unglued.
And soon another event caused consternation.
Was it success or failure that seemed at hand?
Perhaps Quentin has the answer.
And for your listening pleasure...
It's not that simple, Quentin.
A logical, if essentially useless, question to ask.
The more, the merrier. Well, maybe not.
And you think this knowledge will help you?
