Quarantine (1989). Portrays Carl (Karl?) Beck, captain in an unnamed city's police force. Result: Death by betrayal (gunshot to head). This movie is a real treasure for McBeath fans as he excels in this role of a callous (and quite possibly sociopathic) man working to covertly oust and replace the head of the local power structure amidst a years-long battle to control a nation-wide plague.
Some observations:
1. The film's closing credits list McBeath as playing Lt. Beck, even though his character is consistently addressed throughout the movie as Captain Beck. Go figure.
2. The overall "look" of the film is effectively designed to portray a gloomy world of darkness and despair; however, at one point McBeath's character pops up wearing a lemon yellow t-shirt noticeably incongruous with the rest of the movie. Very strange.
3. The cover of this video's slip jacket features the face of McBeath as Beck. Click here to see. The picture is misleading as to the film's content for two reasons: a) during the course of the movie it is never explicitly shown or even stated that affected persons have red eyes, and b) Beck is never placed in quarantine.
