In Cold Blood (1996).  Portrays Alfred Stoecklein, employee of wealthy wheat rancher Herbert Clutter.  The murder of the Clutter family in 1959 in rural Kansas become the subject of a best-selling book. Result: Murderers caught, convicted, and then hanged in 1965.

A re-tellling of the true story made famous by author Truman Capote...arguably the first true crime novel in American literature.  Excellent production values but a rather subdued depiction of a truly horrific event.
