Black Fox: Good Men and Bad (1995).  Portrays Herman Wussler, itinerant trader in Texas during the 1860s. Result: Lame German accent.  (Sad, but true.)

Black Fox, set during the Civil War years, followed the lives of two men, one white, one black, as they and their families struggled to survive in dangerous Texas territory.
